John F. Hester Jr.
is a Raleigh native and alumnus of UNC-Chapel Hill. He graduated from Elon University School of Law and was admitted to the NC bar in 2010, after spending 2 years volunteering in refugee and asylee processing at Lutheran Family Services of Greensboro. Since then, John has practiced immigration law exclusively.
In 2011, John opened an office in downtown Raleigh, where he continues to provide services for humanitarian immigrants. John partners with three local refugee resettlement agencies to promote legal awareness among refugees and asylees, helps them apply for permanent residence, guides them in naturalizing, and promotes effective assistance of refugees and asylees in civil, criminal, and administrative matters.
In 2012, John became McCoppin & Associates’ attorney of counsel for immigration. He also provides support for criminal defense cases that may entail immigration consequences. Here, he serves clients in petitions for family members, applications for benefits, and defense in removal. From McCoppin & Associates, John also partners with local resettlement agencies to provide humanitarian services to Cuban parolees.
